The Secret Hollow Mountain Base

The Secret Hollow Mountain Base originated on Facebook on December 24, 2010, before my husband and I started dating. We met under a Facebook post that a common friend created. We started chatting in Messenger, but we were going off on tangents and covering many different topics, so he made a top-secret page for our conversations, and I made a kitschy sign for it.

Soon after that, we realized that we liked each other and we might be more than friends. We decided to meet up and have a Disney World adventure together. It went well, and we ended up engaged before parting.
Before long, we made plans for him to fly up to Chicago and help me drive a moving truck back to Orlando.
We hung the Secret Hollow Mountain Base sign in our apartment. A year later, we had a surprise wedding for our parents in a small chapel in Kissimmee, Florida.
I made a little Smash Journal of our life together and gave it to him as a first-anniversary present.

We didn't know that our apartment was home to various types of mold.
I got deathly ill and ended up in a constant state of anaphylaxis. We decided to move closer to family and The Mayo Clinic. We moved the items that seemed free of mold spores and would be easy to clean; we junked everything else and started our life over in Wisconsin.

Our new place had a basement, so we decided it would be the perfect place for Our Secret Hollow Mountain Base!  The new base is home to my Art Studio, our recording studio {also known as The Sound Garden Studio}, The Purple Tiki Lounge, The Dance Floor {where we do our Physical Therapy}, and a Storage Area with a little freezer that we turned into an ice cream truck.

You enter the Secret Hollow Mountain Base through our Art Gallery. It is full of art that our friends made for us. When you reach the base of the stairs, you will see The Tiki Lounge Sign, and our mermaid will greet you.

The lounge is home to many Random Kitschy Artifacts, Tiki mugs, Tikis, and Souvenirs from Hawaii. It has a lot of ambient lighting.

We built the bar during the COVID lockdown so we would have a fun place to hang out. Before it became The Purple Tiki, it was The Purple Lounge, in honor of my baby brother, whom we lost in 2016, right after we went through the move. I was an Amazon Vine Influencer, so many of the items are things we received to test.

The Purple Tiki Lounge slowly started to take over The Purple Lounge. We did start with a collection of Tikis and other vintage artifacts from my grandparents' Rumpus Room, Random things my Parents brought back from Hawaii. I have always had a thing for Midcentury Decor; I have always loved Tiki Lounges, so it seemed like the thing to do.  The Fireplace gives off cozy vibes during the Wisconsin winters.
During your visit, it is customary to wear some cheap leis! We have them hanging everywhere; pick what you like!

There is a little jungle between the Lounge and The Dance Floor and additional nooks to rest and maybe sip on a beverage. Every drink comes with a paper umbrella.

During Aloholidays, we have a Purple Tinsel Tree for the Festivities. {Sometimes, it stays up til May.} On your way to the dancefloor, you will find our Menu Board with The Mysterious Purple Tiki. That is where we have information about today's entertainment, as well as any drink specials.
There are also Menus with additional drinks, dinner items, and nibbles.

The Dancefloor has an excellent sound system and fun lights. The floor is covered in a fluffy shag carpet, and there is a giant bean bag chair to rest in if you need to recline.

Between the dance floor and the garden room, there is a teepee play area amongst the fairy garden, under the rainbow eucalyptus tree.

The Disco Ball collection does impressive things with lights. It can be pretty mesmerizing to watch all the lights and colors play off them.

We close The Lounge when we are busy recording our weekly radio show.
But when we aren't recording, the sound garden studio is open with additional seating. Please keep all drinks on the Patio Table, under the umbrella.
Feel free to play board games or put a puzzle together. There are also sensory toys, photo booth props, and other fun things to discover.

This cabinet is home to many family photo albums and happy memories.
Yes, The Tin Man is from Kansas. Kansas, it's not that bad.

The umbrella offers some shaded seating at the bistro table. Please note that unless you are a unicorn, you can't park there. Also, use caution; some fairies and gnomes inhabit the enchanted sound garden studio.

Here is a little video tour with Bali Ha’i performed by Donnette Thayer.
Thank you for stopping by; I hope your day is delightful!
